Huntsman Cancer Institute | Phase V Expansion

This project consists of space for an upgraded women’s center equipped with outpatient exams, procedure, consult, and mammography areas, and an expansion to their Wellness and Integrative Health Center. There is also space for increased services to blood and marrow transplant patients and a new endoscopy center.

Logan Regional Medical Center Reconfiguration

This project includes a new 67 bed, 127,000sf, 3-story patient tower. A mechanical penthouse on the roof will replace two existing outdated patient towers that will be demolished. Upon demolition of those two patient towers, a new 1,200sf main entrance will be constructed and 13,000sf of existing space will be renovated. An extensive update of the hospital campus mechanical and electrical equipment in the CUP is also included, as well as associated sitework improvements and modifications

University of Utah Health Ambulatory Care Complex

The Ambulatory Care Complex (ACC) is one of three projects transforming the Health Sciences Campus into a hub of innovation, training and research. The 300,000-square-foot ACC, with six stories above grade and two basement levels, was the first phase of the transformation and houses clinics, surgery suites, faculty offices, a loading dock for the medical center and support services. The University of Utah selected the site to ensure the new building would connect directly to existing hospital structures.  Work occurred while the existing hospital remained in operation.

Lehi Medical Center is a 125,000 square foot hospital. It was a green field construction site with a 15-month construction schedule. J&S was brought on as a design assist partner to help keep the project within budget and on schedule. We performed a full BIM process. We then used the BIM model to produce spool sheets so we could prefabricate piping to help keep the project on schedule. This project also included a 60,000 square foot professional office building that was connected to the hospital. The P.O.B. mechanical system was fed through the hospital which required careful routing.

American Fork Hospital Expansion

100,000 SF addition. New Surgery Suite (10 operating rooms), Central Sterile, and a new Emergency Department, upgrades and addition to the existing Central Plant. Project required numerous shutdowns/tie-ins new work to the hospital with minimal impact and disruption to service.

St. Mark’s Hospital Womens Pavilion

This project is a remodel of the Women’s Center Pavilion. We have provided upgrades to the HVAC systems and plumbing fixtures serving the Labor and Delivery and Postpartum Patient Rooms, as well as the NICU areas. The project is being completed in multiple phases to allow for continual operation of the owner’s patient care. We are currently on track to complete ahead of schedule.

ST MARK’S HOSPITAL SURGERY DEPARTMENT EXPANSION & RENOVATION

This project consists of a renovation and upgrade of the existing hospital’s surgery suite to provide an up to date and efficient HVAC and building controls system as well as converting building spaces for additional operating room facilities. The work included a complete renovation of the surgery air handler system replacing existing fans with new fan wall technology, new heating and cooling systems, and updating duct work and controls to provide more efficient economizer HVAC. Work was completed with carefully sequenced and phased segments, scheduling multiple shutdowns for the buildings systems, and much of the work being done on nights/weekends to accommodate a healthcare facility needing to maintain operation and surgeries.

Spanish Fork Hospital

235,493 SF Facility.  A level 4 hospital, with a primary focus on women’s services and low acuity surgical services. Facilities include a medical office building, and a hospital featuring 30 beds, 4 ORs, 4 LDRs, 2 C-Section rooms, 10 ED bays, 6 level IIb Nursery, IP and retail pharmacy, 2 endo suites, and space for physical therapy and rehabilitation. Also included is a Central Utility Plant. The project will be LEED Silver.

Portneuf Medical Center

Portneuf Medical Center is a Led Certified Hospital. It has 187 beds with all private patient rooms that includes a state of the art labor and delivery department with 12 birthing tubs. This was a fast track project and was completed in 24 months. This $150 million dollar project has won the ENR Mountain States Best Healthcare Project of the year award. BIM coordinated project. We completed our work under a design assist, open book format using complete time and material back up with savings being returned to the owner.

15-story, Level I Trauma center with 468 beds, including hyperbaric chamber, nutrition center. Radiology, respiratory care, surgery, in-patient rehabilitation, cafeteria, shock trauma and respiratory ICUs, oncology, endocrinology  and a 56-bed emergency department. Western also built the 7-story cardiovascular hospital and the laboratory on this 100-acre, multi-facility campus.

NELLIS AFB HOSPITAL REMODEL

This project was a MATOC design build project that we teamed up on with United Excel. This was an existing hospital that was going through a major remodel, the project was bid and awarded in October 2012. We spent 12 months in design and phasing and started work at the end of 2013. The remodel touched 65% of the hospital, we worked on all 4 floors of the hospital and all of the mechanical rooms. The work was accomplished in 19 phases including R&R of 8 operating rooms while keeping 6 existing OR’s in operation at all times. All of the staff in the affected areas needed to be relocated to other temporary spaces during the various remodel phases. Work included med gas, area alarms and master alarms to be relocated, new AHU’s installed and reworking 11 existing AHU units with new motors and coils and VFDs. This was also a LEED silver project.
